On 6thMay, Cortex hosted the official launch of Barclay-Wolf Malta at the Radisson Blu Resort in St Julians. Of course, the event was not just a launch, but also a training seminar.  A small group of hairstylists were invited to participate so as to gain a hands-on experience of Barclay-Wolf hair extensions.

The event took off with a warm welcome by our very own Robert Micallef, who explained the effectiveness of such educational seminars. Cortex does its best to provide the most effective training so as to keep Maltese hairstylists’ techniques up to date. Learning and keeping yourself updated with techniques will help stylists provide clients with the best quality service. Remember, here at Cortex we are all about high quality!

The Training

Chris Christoforou

Chris Christoforou, director of education at Barclay-Wolf, came all the way from the UK to provide all the training necessary for the application of Barclay-Wolf hair extensions.

He was accompanied by Clinton Attard from Yuva House of Beauty, and by Elena Cassar from Head&Jam Hair Salon. These professionals provided demonstrations on mannequins as well as live models of how to apply the Barclay-Wolf Tape extensions in the most efficient and effective way possible.

Why Barclay-Barclay Wolf?

According to Chris, “tape extensions are the way forward.” The Barclay-Wolf extensions provide more comfort to the clients. Unlike other tape extensions, these are flat against their head, making them less visible and much easier to apply. Application should not take longer than 40 minutes, which is definitely less time consuming than other forms of extension application.

Barclay-Wolf is a game changer. The brand attempts to solve a problem so as to help hairdressers do a better job. The extensions are the better option when compared to bonds. This is the case since, bonds drag the hair out, and the client would need to buy fresh hair more often (3 to 6 months). On the other hand, tapes are paid for from the very beginning and can last from 1 year up to 16 months. The time-frame all depends on the quality of the clients’ hair.

Denise Gafa, a self-employed, cross-fit practicer and social media influencer, was among the models who were invited to participate. Gafa typically keeps her hair styled in a blunt bob fashion, however this quickly changed when Elena applied her extensions. She is currently rocking a long wavy look made with Barclay-Wolf extensions!

Of course, Denise Gafa was not the only model. She was accompanied by 12 other models who were individually invited by their stylist. What better way to get experience than practice on your very own clients?

The event lasted all day, from 9AM to 5PM, however an adequate amount of coffee breaks were given, and a full lunch was provided! Overall, it was a successful event which provided the effective application of Barclay-Wolf extensions!
